M’Vila keen on Arsenal switch
Long term Arsenal target Yann M’Vila has admitted he is keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
The Rennes midfielder has been heavily linked with the Gunners, and with Arsene Wenger planning on getting his transfer dealings underway early this summer, discussions began in May over an alleged £17m deal.
With talks stalling however, it appeared that Wenger was tiring in his pursuit of the 21 year old – currently on international duty at Euro 2012 with France. Both Bayern Munich and Inter Milan had made known their interest and Wenger turned his attentions instead to Manchester City’s midfield enforcer Nigel de Jong and Uzbekistan captain Odil Ahmedov with Anderlecht central midfielder Lucas Biglia also earmarked.
M’Vila has now sparked further speculation he is set for a switch to the north London by expressing his admiration for the club.
‘I have heard Arsenal are interested in me,’ M’Vila said. ‘I like Arsenal and I like the Premier League.
‘I don’t know what is happening with the clubs, but yes, I would be interested in the Premier League and Arsenal.’
Former Chelsea and French international Marcel Desailly has already urged Arsenal to sign the Rennes starlet in the belief that he will prove to be ‘better even than Patrick Vieira’.
‘I would just say that if I was the chairman of a Premier League club I would just close my eyes and put the figure on the cheque to get him,’ Desailly said earlier this month. ‘Because he is really the future. The talent is there. It is obvious.
‘You can see by the way he gets the ball, control and passes straight away. Long ball, short ball. He has that sort of rhythm that the Barclays Premier League is demanding.’
