Palace to decide Zaha’s future
Crystal Palace have warned clubs intending to bid for youngster Wilfried Zaha that only they will decide when the player moves on.
Zaha, 19, has risen to prominence after a number of impressive performances for Palace over the past 18 months. He particularly excelled in Palace’s Carling Cup run this season and won many plaudits for his attacking spirit.
Zaha was rewarded for his efforts as he rather predictably won the accolade of ‘Young Player of the Year’ at the 2012 Football League Awards. He was also rewarded by Palace with a new 5 year contract just a few months ago which he duly signed.
Liverpool have been most strongly linked with a move for Zaha, but rumours of interest from Manchester United and Tottenham have surfaced over the most previous 6 months.
Speaking to South London Press, Palace manager Dougie Freedman said “Wilf has got a five-year contract that he only signed a few months ago. We’ll decide over the next five years when is the best time for Wilf to move on – the chairman will decide that from a business point of view and I’ll decide it on the footballing side”.
