Butcher – FA’s manager search ‘a farce’

wembley 150x100 Butcher FAs manager search a farceHighly respected former England captain Terry Butcher has called England’s search for a new manager to replace Fabio Capello a farce.

It has now emerged that the FA are content to make the appointment of a new manager in the summer, even days before EURO 2012 per Sir Trevor Brooking when pressed on the chances of an appointment imminently.

Butcher feels that this will not serve the squad as it prepares for the Championships and it is hard to disagree.

However, the next appointment for England is a vitally important one and, with many individuals heading to Poland and Ukraine knowing that this will be their last major Championship, England need to appoint a man who can revitalize the team and the FA are right to take their time to ensure the correct appointment is made – even if this flies in the face of public opinion.

It could also be the case that England have already appointed a manager in principle, but that an agreement between him , the FA, and his club prevents publication of that appointment before this season is out.
