Flamini to rejoin Arsenal
Mathieu Flamini is set for a return to Arsenal, according to reports today.
In a homecoming as – if not more – unlikely as fellow Emirates alumnus Thierry Henry’s in the january transfer window, Flamini could rejoin Arsenal when his contract with AC Milan runs out in the summer.
Flamini, 27, signed for Arsenal on a free from Marseille in 2004, and over the next four years the defensive midfielder established himself as an integral part of Wenger’s team, making 153 appearances and scoring eight goals.
It was during this period that Flamini established himself on the international scene too, the Frenchman of Italian descent making his France debut – his dfirst of eight caps – against Morocco in November 2007.
In 2008, Flamini was once again a beneficairy of the Bosman ruling, AC Milan poaching him from the Emirates just as Arsenal did from Marseilles four years earlier.
Flamini’s time in Italy has been a success, two trophyless campaigns followed by Serie A and Italian Supercup crowns in 2011. Since then, however, Flamini has had little chance to add to his ninety-eight appearances and three goals for the Rossoneri: a serious knee injury has kept him sidelined since the start of the season, and with the midfielder yet to step on the pitch this campaign, Flamini could be allowed to leave a transitional AC Milan side this summer.

what benefit has flamini to offer the gunners? his commitment to de team is not like henry. so players should not dream of a come back; nasri, hleb, abeba, gallas ……..

Yeah, this story has legs. Eight of them.
His contract runs out at the end of this season, plus he has a cruciate ligament injury now, so that’s why the media suddenly discover a link with Arsenal (because we are supposedly on the lookout for out-of-contract-soon players with a long injury history). Blah blah blah.
The sad truth is, Flamini is at best OK at Milan. Ever wondered why he’s not making the French national squad anymore?

hope not.
1. he’s a crap player. Coquelin 10x better
2. he left. dont take those players who take arsenal for granted back. the club would just be going backwards.

If he fully recovers from injury and wants to return and Wenger feels he could benefit Arsenal…..why not? I still recall his non-stop running in the m/f engine room and if he could regain that energy.Wow!
Yet another instance though, of the grass NOT being greener. I hope present players at the Emirates take note and ponder.

Flamini was class when he was at aresnal always gave 100%. Better than that shite Alex song for sure. I would have him back in a heartbeat, he would definatley add some steel and passion to the midfield which as been lacking for many years now.

We have Song, top class defensive midfielder.
We have Coquelin, an amazing young who can play almost everywhere on the pitch. World class in 2 years, excellent technique, a good pace, needs just a bit more experience.
When Frimpong will be healthy, we will have 3 players better than Flamini.

Yea.he was one of gr8 players. But let us not forget dat what need is creative attacking midfielder dat can fill in de gap left by Fabulous. And another clinical striker to support RVP10.What happened in sunderland’s match is a clear evidence dat sometimes we need to play 4-4-2,xpecially when RVP is macked out by defenders

We need a clinical striker and attacking midfielder

I really do not think we need Flamini for anything at the moment. I would rather we go for better players. Yes he was great for us but he has not played much for a very long time and within that period, alot could have changed.
As a matter of fact, I am sure there is nothing to the story, how can there be anything to it when he has not played for some time now and Arsenal do not have an opportunity of accessing him?

We dnt need him bcos he need money than us at that time.

LETS HAVE FLAMINI BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It would be good for us because our form dipped and has never returned since. He is a lionheart engine when he was with us and he galvanised our defense playing his part in both midfield and defence. Flamini was the protector of fabregas on the field and we never replaced him. We need a protector to support Jack wiltshire and the midfield.
Did you see him play for AC Milan against Tottuyham in champians league last year, he was played like his life depended on beating Tottuyham.
He still has the spirit and I felt he never let us down.
LETS GET THIS STRAIGHT. IT WAS WENGER WHO WOULD NOT OFFER A FAIR DEAL LIKE HE OFFERED NO HOPERS LIKE BENTNER, ALMUNIA, DIABY, ROSICKY, SCILLCCI, DHIURU.
GET HIM BACK AND THEN WE WILL START STRINGING SOME WINS TOGETHER, SOMETHING WE HAVE NOT DONE SINCE HE LEFT AND FURTHER MORE, HE HAS EXPERIENCE PLAYING IN ITALY.

Would love him back! He was a fantastic for us in his last season and Wenger should have given him better wages, especially as he is considering giving Theo £80, 000 per week. Flamini was worth more than Theo does to us.
And for all of you who are ignorant enough to believe Frimpong, Le Coq or even Song is better than Flamini, you are sorely wrong.
Flamini has a bigger engine and is more cambative than all of them. I am a great admirer of all three players. Song hs improved immensely, and probably has more creative ability than Flamini. He will get more assists because he is not afraid to attempt the killer pass, despite the criticism but Flamini is more mobile and will get more interceptions and win the ball back more.
Coquelin has the poltentila to be the best allround player of the lot, he has everything but he is not up to Flaminis level on the DF side quite yet.
I love Frimpong because he is a proud Ghanaian who is Arsenal through and through. He is extremely combative and strong and will be a world class player one day. I watched him in the Emirates cup playing aghainst AC Milan a couple years back. It was in that game that I saw how good he really was. However in that game I also saw how Flamini outplayed him and controlled the MF, nicking th ball off him on a few occasions.
TO be honest I thought Flamini was poor until the last couple of seasons he played for us.Now i believe had he stayed we would have been far more likely to have won the title since he left.
I would suggest we let Rosicky go at the end of the season and bring iback Flamini if possible, I think he still loves Arsenal, I have seen him at the Emirates a couple of times since he left. However it won’t happen, I cannot see him returning.
Oh and to you guys who are always saying that the grass is never greener outside of the Emirates…. that’s rubbish. Flamini has won two titles + in Serie A, what has Arsenal won in that time? Henry and Hleb have won the treble with Barca, that may have been worth leaving the beloved Arsenal for.
