Birmingham to loan Danny Rose
Promotion chasing Birmingham City are hoping to tie up a loan deal for Tottenham Hotspurs’ Danny Rose.
Rose, 21, joined Tottenham from Leeds United in a £1million deal in spite of the fact at that point he had never before played a competitive match. He cemented a place in the Spurs fans’ hearts when he scored a wonder goal against Arsenal on his Premier League debut.
Since joining Tottenham, Rose has been loaned to Watford, Peterborough and Bristol City. At Watford Rose received high praise from the now Swansea City manager Brendan Rogers, but his time at Peterborough and Bristol City was significantly less decorated. In fact, despite signing a season-long loan with Bristol City, he returned to Tottenham early in a move which did not disappoint the Ashton Gate faithful.
Often considered a left-winger, and by himself a central midfielder, Harry Redknapp has often deployed Rose as a left-back following an impressive string of performances deputising for the then injured Assou-Ekotto.
Birmingham currently find themselves in the play-off mix in the NPower Championship, just a few points off the automatic promotion spots. Manager Chris Houghton, who led Newcastle United to promotion from the Championship at first attempt, had been linked with the vacant managers role at Wolverhampton Wanderers, but he has moved quickly to quash any rumours.
