Wenger pulls off transfer window masterstroke
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has pulled of this winter’s transfer window masterstroke and has once again proved in doing so that Arsenal are one of the best operators in the transfer window.
Criticised for their lack of action during the summer, which saw several 11th hour signings as the window was about to be slammed shut at the end of August, Arsenal have been subjected to fervent speculation in the run up to this January’s window.
Yet the loan signing of record goal scorer and club legend Thierry Henry on a 2 month loan has proven to be the most astute signings of this January window so far.
By signing the 34 year old on loan, Arsenal have in one move placated the clamour of their fans for the big money signing that they so craved. More importantly though, Henry’s signing has bought Wenger considerable time, until the end of the season before he needs to bring in that marquee big name player that Arsenal fans demand.
Knowing that his main targets in Lille’s Eden Hazard and Dortmund’s Mario Goetze are unlikely to be allowed to move in mid season, Henry’s capture, albeit for two months, gives Wenger much needed breathing space and more importantly renewed belief amongst supporters in the stands.
The priority for Wenger this season is to ensure that Arsenal finish in the top four and thus qualify for the Champions League, but Wenger is all too aware that if he is to keep the likes of Van Persie happy, big name players need to follow in the close season.
By stalling such a move for a big name player now on a permanent transfer, the signing of Henry provides goals and necessary cover, yet buys Wenger the time needed, so as he can do all the important business and rebuilding at the end of the season.

Gudmorning my fellow arsenal fans. I wuz delighted wen i saw d goal henry scored yesterday. We havnt scored dat kind of goal this season except rvp who is a left not a right footer. Bt we still need players. Henry will b going back in february who do u guys think will b giving us dis kind of experience. Wenger shld b serious bcus dis is wat happened last season. Wen it wuz almost end of season we hardly won a match. Wat will it take dat economist(wenger) to bring in mathias suàrez or podolski. I heard something abt kalou coming back 2 london 2 complete his move 2 arsenal. Is it tru. Gunners 4 life
