Wenger chasing Greek International

wenger1 150x150 Wenger chasing Greek InternationalArsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set to keep with his policy of signing players for the future as he has called upon his board to pull out all the stops to sign Greek Goalkeeper Stefanos Kapino.

Kapino, 17, currently plies his trade with Panathinaikos where he is already established as their first-choice goalkeeper. Having also already been capped by the Greek full national side, many of Europe’s top clubs are looking to tie up a deal for the youngster who, despite his relatively young age, already measures in at 6ft 5″.

Wenger is hoping to have the deal completed before the close of this transfer window having already allowed Vito Mannone to join Hull on loan. Whilst Wojciech Szczesny’s immediate position is not thought to be under any huge threat, Wenger is also reluctant to have to rely on Lukasz Fabianski as his only back-up for any sustained period such has been his inconsistent form.

That said it now looks unlikely that Arsenal are going to be able to shift Manuel Almunia. The Spanish shot-stopper is currently on wages of around £50,000 a week at Arsenal and, with none of his potential suitors willing to come close to that figure, he looks set to run down his contract with Arsenal rather than take the drastic paycuts that he has been offered.

One Response to Wenger chasing Greek International

  1. We can not think of goalkeeping when the problem is defenders & stricking force
