Villa striker is Dalglish’s top January transfer target
Aston Villa striker Darren Bent has emerged as Kenny Dalglish’s and Liverpool’s top transfer target during the transfer window which is open until the end of January.
According to various UK national newspapers, Liverpool are to test Villa’s resolve in keeping hold of Bent, by offering the Birmingham club a massive £24 million for his capture.
Bent, who only joined Villa in January 2011 for a reported £18 million from Sunderland, has been on top form for Aston Villa during the year he has been with the club and has regularly featured in Fabio Capello’s England squads as a result.
Villa manager Alex McLeish will be reluctant to lose Bent, who scored in yesterday’s 3 – 1 defeat of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Last January, Liverpool were involved in the two biggest transfers of the window, which saw Fernando Torres move to Chelsea for £50 million, whilst Andy Carroll moved to Anfield from Newcastle United for a £35 million fee.
