Vidic undergoes knee surgery

vidic 150x101 Vidic undergoes knee surgeryManchester United club captain, Nemanja Vidic, has undergone successful knee surgery and the signs are that the Serbian international will be back to full fitness in readiness for the start of the 2012 – 2013 season.

Vidic who suffered knee ligament damage in United’s 2 – 1 defeat to FC Basel in Switzerland, a result that saw them crash out of this year’s Champions League, was expected to be out for the start of the campaign next season.

However, commenting on the surgery the 30 year old underwent on Wednesday, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said:

“He had surgery on Wednesday and came through fine. They didn’t remove anything at all, everything’s clear, but it’s a cruciate so it’ll be next season.”

United’s medical staff are quietly confident that the recovery will be such, that Vidic will be able to take part in pre season training and be available for selection for the start of next season.
