Terry linked with China move

johnterry 150x84 Terry linked with China moveTwo Chinese clubs are willing to offer John Terry a temporary respite from his racism scandal, the Daily Express has reported.

The January transfer window is traditionally tabloid silly season, and as if to herald its arrival, what is destined to be one of this season’s more outlandish transfer rumours has emerged.

Shanghai Shenhua and Guangzhou Evergrande are prepared to match and even better Terry’s £150,000 weekly wages at Chelsea with a six-month loan deal, in the hope the England captain will seek to escape from the controversy that threatens to eclipse his season and, if found guilty, his career.

Shanghai Shenhua recently clinched the signing of Terry’s former Chelsea teammate Nicolas Anelka on a lucrative two year deal, and hope similar marquee signings such as Terry’s will follow as the Chinese Super League looks to establish itself on the international stage.

Charged with using racist language in an incident involving Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand in a Premier League game on 23rd October 2011, Terry’s case will be heard at West London Magistrates Court on February 1st .

If found guilty, the maximum penalty the 31-year old could face would be a four-figure fine and a criminal record, but the consequences for his career would be disastrous; Terry would almost certainly lose his captaincy of both club and country. Chelsea – who have supported him throughout – could even dismiss him for breach of contract. Terry maintains his innocence.
