Swansea pair on Liverpool radar

Liverpool have made a £5million bid for Swansea’s Scott Sinclair according to the Daily Mail.

The Bath born winger started his career at Bristol Rovers before Chelsea signed him in July 2005. He failed to make the grade at Stamford Bridge and after a number of loan appearances with the likes of Plymouth Argyle, Birmingham City and Wigan Athletic, moved to Swansea in August 2010 for £500,000.

That figure pails into insignificance when compared to the fee that Liverpool are prepared to pay for his services but whether the Swans would be prepared to break up their current squad with half the season yet to play remains in doubt.

Brendan Rodgers’ Premier League new boys have been a revelation this season none moreso than in Sunday’s sublime performance against Arsenal.

The transition from Championship to Premier League has appeared seamless as evidenced by a number of devastating displays from the 22 year old whose pace, agility and calmness under pressure fits with the young British Mould favoured by Dalglish and director of football Damien Comolli.

Sinclair has notched up six goals from a wide left role offerring support to summer signing Danny Graham and pushing the Swans into the top half of the table.

The former England under 21 international’s versatility is also seen as a big plus for Dalglish. He can play wide on either flank, as well as through the middle and would provide a number of options given Luis Suarez’ enforced absence and Andy Caroll’s continued struggles.

Joe Allen is another player being linked with Liverpool. The 21-year-old Wales international has been with Swansea since he was nine and signed a new deal with the club in the summer.

The midfielder has been a key player in Swansea’s debut season in the Premier League, with manager Rodgers saying his command of games is among the “very best players at this level.”

Allen’s tackling, passing and playmaking abilities have been key to Swansea this season and have established him as an international regular alongside Aaron Ramsey in the Wales midfield.
