QPR chase Kranjcar
Queens Park Rangers have been linked with numerous players this transfer window. Unfortunately the club have been unable to convert many of their enquiries into new recruits. The latest player that they are being linked with is Tottenham Hotspurs’ out-of-favour Niko Kranjcar.
Kranjcar, 27, was once a focal feature of Portsmouth’s Premier League side. He had huge numbers of admirers and was even said to be the subject of a transfer enquiry from Arsenal.
His career, however, has taken a dive since leaving Portsmouth to link up once again with manager Harry Redknapp. Whilst his move to White Hart Lane appeared to be a match made in heaven, with his creativity and vision set to compliment teammates like Gareth Bale, Aaron Lennon and Jermaine Defoe.
Kranjcar, however, finds himself in the unenviable position where he is frankly not as good as the competition in the squad. Luka Modric is rightly so the natural first choice for a central creative outlet, and with Van der Vaart working well in the hole, a holding central midfielder such as Scott Parker is a necessity to add stability to the side. Kranjcar, therefore, finds himself warming the bench.
Being a reserve midfielder at White Hart Lane however is no jibe. Kranjcar would be a great addition to most Premier League squads and he would certainly be a real coup for a club like Queens Park Rangers.
Kranjcar is keen to move on as he seeks first-team football and Tottenham are happy to relent. Whether a deal will be reached with QPR, however, remains to be seen.
