stamfordbridge2 150x75 Chelsea handed boost in bid to sign WillianChelsea have had a £16.7million offer rejected by Shakhtar Donetsk for their Brazilian international Willian according to the Daily Mail.

The Ukraine sides CEO Sergei Palkin has confirmed that the club have rejected a €20million bid from Chelsea for the player just hours after blues boss Andre Villas-Boas had effectively ruled out a deal:

‘Willian is a very interesting player, but he is cup tied in the Champions League. I don’t think we should go for players who cannot be involved in all the competitions.’

Shakhtar however have confirmed this morning that an offer has been received and that the player himself is keen on the move.

‘We have no burning desire to sell the player, but in football some things are impossible to avoid.

‘If it weren’t for our good relationship with Chelsea, and Willian does not hide his intention to test himself in one of the best clubs in the English Premier League, we would insist on the £29m release clause written into the player’s contract.

‘It is important to understand that we are talking about Chelsea’s desire to buy Willian, but not Shakhtar’s desire to sell him.’

Both clubs are likely to meet in the next few days to thrash out a deal for the attacking midfielder with the West London club prepared to go to £25million for the former Corinthians star.

    most players are cup tied, who is not and you looking to buy?

    now, if that is the case it is better to buy the player now,
    by the summer he gets used with the team, and can bloody help you
    with the premiere league, where you are not doing that well AVB;

    by the way AVB stop saying you are pleased with the team when results are so bad; if it is not the team, then it must be you!!!

    Glad to see that others have been picking up on the silly double speak campaign that AVB has been on since the begining of the season. Dude your players read the garbage that is going on, surprise, surprise a good number of them are none too thrilled with you so far. Your records at PORTO are yesterdays news. The world is watching what you are doing NOW and you often sound too impressed with YOURSELF. Confidence is good but it ought to translate into results. To this point, for this team, the results are bluntly AVERAGE.

    Abrahmovich plz rebuild our beloved team chelsea with brazilians and argentines, if possible get neymar without fear, money make improper things proper so plz go all and get neymar, bring in guus or rijkard to assist avb, or kick him out if he refuses to accept that. Good luck chelseafc.

    I hate AVB saying that he is satisfied with what he has even when what he has remain inconsistent by his word,AVB should know that chelsea is not arsenal who seem to hate anything trophy,let him buy players for us.Hazard,Willian and a goalscorer to assist torres.As for the assistant coach,i wonder what assist he is giving.

    It’s high time avb should stop hoping on this inconsistent men,both lampard and drogba’s goals this season are all fluke,for goodness sake,what stops lampard being sold to la-galaxy or psg,drogba to china,alex to qpr,malouda and bosingwa to anywhere,these men has tried for the team,let them be exchanged with younger and talented ones.

    I think Willian could be a great signing but i also believe he is not the solution…. we need to look and Moutinho, Callejon and a right back. Drogba, Alex, Ferriera, Malouda, Mikel all are beyond it. Try Torres through the middle but if that does not work out than Sturridge should be given the chance.

    avb has really dissapoint me with everything and i think he should be sacked if he can not get us good players because with the way chelsea is playing right now we can not win any trophy.i cant even believe that chelsea i know, Now find it very difficult to win common games.
