Le Fondre in Royal move
Adam Le Fondre, known as ALF, has completed a move to NPower Championship side Reading having signed a three-year contract.
Le Fondre, formerly with Rotherham United in League 2, completed his move to the Madjeski Stadium yesterday evening in a deal reported to be worth up to £400,00.
Interest in Le Fondre was high with Sheffield Wednesday, Coventry and Bristol City all rumoured to have been tracking the striker who has been prolific for Rotherham. In the 96 appearances he made for the club he netted 54 times (including 4 in 4 already this season).
Reading hope, and there is no reason to suggest otherwise, that his prowess in front of goal will fill the a void up-front following Shane Long’s £7million move to West Brom.
Although the season is still in its infancy, Reading have struggled to keep up the momentum that took them all the way to the play-off final last season. The Royals yesterday lost 1-0 away at Hull, who secured their first home win (and also their first goal at home) this season.
Of ALF’s potential to make the step-up to the NPower Championship, Rotherham United’s chief operating officer Paul Douglas said ’The lad deserves his opportunity to play at a higher level and I`m sure he`s going to go on and prove he can perform at Championship if not higher and certainly has our best wishes.’
