Wenger to approach Lille for Hazard

With growing pressure mounting on Arsenal due to their lack of activity in the transfer market and  the news that rivals Tottenham are looking to sign another possible Gunners target in Juan Mata. Arsene Wenger is rumoured to be on the verge of making an approach for Lille’s 20 year old Belgian international, Eden Hazard.

Arsenal have been linked with Hazard throughout 2011, but face a large obstacle in the form of the possible price that Lille would want for the highly rated youngster, which is believed to be in the region of £19 million.

Wenger is  not known for being exuberant with Arsenal’s cheque book and is also renowned for keeping his cards very close to his chest when operating in the transfer market.

Yet Wenger is a great admirer of the youngster and realises that he needs to add to the squad, which has only seen Gervinho and Carl Jenkinson come in so far during the window.

If as expected Wenger does make an approach for Hazard, it is also likely that several other sides will be monitoring the situation.

Back at the beginning of the month, we reported how Italian Serie A side Inter Milan have been closely following the progress of the Belgian international.

    Hazard presents additional bonus…..he has played at club level with Gervinho and knows how to link with him and get the best from him. Mata is a player if great potential too, but my worry is that he will just be another Spaniard who will long to go home (Fab, Reyes etc)

      I agree with the Mata comment and wanting to go home. But it won’t be because he is home sick like Reye’s it will be because Barcelona or Real Madrid will come in and say he should be back home with his family, blah, blah, blah. The whole Barcelona Fabresgas situation is rubbish, they don’t need Fabregas and using the comments about Barce being his home is a load of rubbish, they let him go at 16 saying he wasn’t good enough! Now they come running back when they realise how much of a mistake they made. If they had the brains they would have put a buy back clause in when they let him go to soften the blow of him going cheap to us in first place. If I was Fabregas I would say no as they let him go and didn’t put up a fight to keep him when he was younger.

    Meant to say…..what’s happening at Centre Back? At the end of last season Wenger flagged at press conference a search for “Premier League experienced Centre Back” and other players to add ‘experience’….we awaited Cahill/Samba and Parker….and still we wait. We have bought a winger/forward and a right back, neither with any EPL experience, no it’s a midfielder (Belgian or Spanish)…am I missing something? Or is Wenger missing something?????

    Mertesacker is tall, strong, experienced……but slow! Too slow for EPL. He would be found out very quickly….another goner goof at CB. No, my choices (in order) Cahill, Samba, and the young Danish lad who I can’t remember for the life of me. Jagielka is a great CB but he is 29 and he does not want to leave the Northwest.

    I dont tink its wise selling Nasri bcos Eden Hazard is on our radar. Wat posibility is der dat he may b beta dan Nasri? Keeping Nasri makes more sense dan selling him 4 d money. All Wenger need 2 do is b serious on d transfer market wit quality buys.

    Does anyone believe that Nasri REALLY wants to play for Arsenal anymore…if he did he would be on new contract already and well up for new season. He wants out….keeping him will destroy morale and waste £20m

      Well his reason for not signing is he was waiting to see what Wenger did in the transfer window (so papers tell us). Has Nasri actually come out and said he wants to leave? I read somewhere that he told a French news paper he was happy and that Arsenal were the ones that had made the contract signing a problem. It’s all paper spec until it’s on the Arsenal website I think but would be nice to hear him actually say what he plans to do so that Arsenal can decide there next move in transfer market, same goes for Fabregas saga.

      Aw should for once think less of the money but more of his title-thirsty fans and give the team the best chance for titles with the signing of Juan mata, Hazard, Benzema plus Cahill,and Samba or Jagielka.Lets have an exciting rather than an enxious season after six years!

    We the fans of gunners are keen to see Benzema,hazard,matta,G.Cahill,baines/henerique and jagielka if possible. We are tired of every day rumours. If the club is able to add these players, then let the other players saga of exit such as Fabregas and Nasri leave. Plse plse come with good news. We are really suffering of the rumours.

      No other team thinks of that about us. Barca want our captain, city want nasri. They already got clichy, toure and adebayour. If AW makes a good offer then they will most likely sell. Your not a true fan to say wait and try next season, he’ll be somewhere else most likely, we waited on Alvarez and he went to inter Milan so he can’t wait !!!

    The begining of the new season is fast approaching and i don’t believe Arsene wenger will sign up to 5players unless we first get rid of the 2 ingrates,40m for cesc plus 20m for samir is a good business then we can use the fund to bring in hazard,mata,cahil and samba or jagielka.let make it real this time,go gunners!

    aw ain’t gonna sell anyone til he has players in place to replace em, that will just weaken the team. lol at all the “just buy them”, takes time and effort to negotiate contracts nowadays, plus he won’t want to start playing raise the fee with the likes of chelsea, man utd , man city, barca, real etc, will want to get deals done as quietly as possible.

      Also reminding me that the club is made of fans is invaluable so I appreciate that information too.
      We have looked and discussed you post at length and it has impressed us so much that we have decided to offer you the job as manager of Arsenal football club. The ideas that you have and the players that you mention have never been heard of before and we cannot understand how you have found these players without having scouts. I would like you to consider the request seriously and not to discuss it with any of the tabloid press.
